Who's Who on the Artist's Team
Good Morning Beautiful People!
"Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much." - Helen Keller
I know we all like to think we can do it all. We even get down on ourselves when we are unable to do it all because we buy into the false notion that we are inadequate if we can't get shit done all by ourselves. We're told, you were born alone, you gon' die alone, and the implication is that in-between time, we should be alone too. But I'm here to tell you that couldn't be further from the truth. We may have been born alone, but we were born into a world full of other human beings. We were put here to service one another and to learn and grow from one another. We are all different for a reason - and that reason is to use each other for our differences. And while I'm on the topic, let's also do away with this notion that "using" each other is wrong. Now let me be clear, we should not be "users" in the sense that we take, take, take and never give back. There should definitely be some quid pro quo going on here. As long as the relationship is mutually beneficial to all parties involved, I see no harm in using one another. And that brings me to the point of this email - build a team. Build a team so strong, you don't know who the boss is. (I stole that from an Instagram post btw.) Artists - you especially need a team! I've never met an artist who wanted to handle business. Every artist I know wants to be in the studio all day making music. And there's nothing wrong with that. As long as you have a team of qualified people around you that can handle your business for you. Who should that team consist of, you ask? Well...
