I’m not quite sure what’s going on with these artists and their blatant theft of other artist’s copyright protected works. I could see maybe trying to borrow someone’s music who doesn't have an established career, but even nowadays, your regular everyday people have smartened up and become well aware of their intellectual property rights in music. It’s absolutely insane to sample popular music without permission, especially if you’re famous. People will hear it and inevitably


You Don’t Have to Call…
Judge Arenda Wright Allen is playing hard ball in the 4th circuit with Justin Bieber and Usher who are facing a copyright infringement lawsuit for Justin Bieber’s hit song “Somebody to Love”. The plaintiff, Devon “the Dude” Copeland, initially filed suit against the defendants about three (3) years ago and the complaint was initially dismissed, but on appeal, the court found that the plaintiff’s song and defendant’s songs were sufficiently similar to warrant a trial by jury.


Jackson Estate Tells Tohme to “Beat It”
Looks like it’ll still be some more years before the King of Pop can finally Rest In Peace. Dating back to 2012, Michael Jackson’s manager, Tohme Tohme, claims that he’s owed a fifteen percent (15%) share of gross receipts received by the estate (over $310 million) after Jackson’s death along with a ten percent (10%) finder’s fee for a loan for Neverland Ranch.
